Szalai signs long-term contract with Hoffenheim

German Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim have completed the signing of Attila Szalai from Turkish Cup winners Fenerbahce. The 24-year-old Hungarian defender has signed a long-term contract with Hoffenheim, the club announced on Saturday.

Szalai joins Hoffenheim after two seasons with Fenerbahce, where he made 76 appearances in all competitions and helped the club win the Turkish Cup in 2022. He also earned 28 caps for Hungary and was part of their squad at the 2020 European Championship.

"I am very happy to be joining Hoffenheim," Szalai said. "This is a great club with a lot of ambition and I am looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga."

Hoffenheim sporting director Alexander Rosen said: "Attila is a young and talented defender who has already proven his qualities at both club and international level. We are very pleased to have him on board."

Szalai is Hoffenheim's second signing of the summer following the arrival of defender Ozan Kabak from Schalke 04.
